Do what you love!

Updated: May 13, 2020

Hello Aviators! May 27th would've been one of my favorite events of the year...the Career Fair! Career Fairs may seem to be getting ahead of ourselves at the elementary level but children are innately curious about the different jobs and opportunities adults choose to participate in..especially their own parents/caregivers! It is also important for children to begin making connections between their natural talents and interests and how these gifts might serve them as life-long learners and in the workforce. I often tell the students that we can't be great at everything but we can be phenomenal at some things. This is especially true when it builds on a passion. As was the case in the last lesson, this lesson is also in Voicethread format. Therefore, I've not placed any links in the actual presentation. They are provided separately below and are hyperlinked. Parents and students both, please enjoy these activities. They are fun and might give you some insights into yourself....or validate what you already knew.

As we begin to close out for the summer, words can not express the feelings I've had about the 19-20 school year. I will miss our 5th graders and mourn the loss of their graduation ceremonies/celebrations. I already miss the excitement and anticipation filling the halls that comes after testing is over and the freedom of summer is on the horizon. These things are often forgotten when we are not in the regular presence of children. YOUR children continuously give me the gift of reliving my own school days with wonder and lessons learned. Please Sharpen the Saw with intention this summer! All the best! ~Mrs. Tanner
